Santa arrived early this year!
You are not going to believe this but Christmas came early for me. Yesterday I won first prize in a raffle to benefit local central New York charities (tickets were 3 for $10); the prize: a single golf membership to Walden Oaks Golf Course in Cortland (that's where I play league every Monday)!!!! Honest, it's true! I'm still pinching myself to make sure ... woohoo! Merry Christmas to me!

Cats
Sparky is starting to come around to the notion that Rupert is here to stay. They play now (perhaps torment is the better term), as indicated in this picture:
Rupert of course has no fear and just keeps running up to Sparky, biting at his tail, pouncing on his head, etc. Sparky has resorted to chasing the kitten into a corner... I think he makes the kitten cry "UNCLE" before he lets him go but I can't really understand cat talk yet.

Welcome Rupert!
Hi, My Name is Rupert.
See my stripes?
Are these boots made for chewing?
Oh, okay, I'll pose.
Indeed, it is true, my third son arrived last Saturday. He is 6 weeks old and a terror. Kobe likes him alot and Sparky is tolerating him (at best). Can you hear the theme song from "My Three Sons" in the background? I CAN!

Real Sports?
I watched a very upsetting segment on HBO's Real Sports last Thursday. If you haven't seen this month's show, you should make sure you do, but beware, it will turn your stomach. The nice part about HBO is that they aren't afraid to dive into the tough topics troubling today's Pro Sport's teams. The bad part about HBO is that they cover the tough and troubling topics. Yes, I know, I contradicted myself, but it is the truth. This particular segment is about Michael Vick and the underground dog fighting world. YUCK! GROSS! DISGUSTING! I saw on tonight's news that Vick has accepted a plea bargain. I honestly think he should have to work on a pig farm and sleep in the pig pen or worse!
If you have followed my blog at all over the past few years you know that I love my dog (thanks to the Hatfield's) and my cat (sorry Sandy). During the show, all I could do was hug Kobe and wonder how grown "men" could do such things? I'm still shaking my head. My "boys" are still good though!

The Four Falcons - babies to teenagers in mere weeks!
I really enjoy watching the Rochester Falcons every spring. Four girls this year, Grace, Anata, Linn, and Sacajawea. They began fledging this week so we won't see any pictures of all four together ever again. I thought I'd post a few of all four just in case you have missed them.

Pardon my absence...
Pardon my absence blogger fans, lots has happened in the past few weeks. I traveled to Myrtle Beach on May 11th with my bike in tow. I decided to trailer it this year to avoid riding in the rain on I95 (an experience that no biker enjoys!). Arrived at the hotel at around 1pm on Saturday and enjoyed the next several days (I'll post some pictures in a future blog)!
I woke up Wednesday morning and could barely breath. My throat was so swollen and my chest so congested that I thought I might need Oxygen. My friends helped me find the nearest convenient care facility and off we rode to my appointment. It turns out I had strep on top of a virus. The virus starts with a sore throat, turns to chest congestion, and winds up staying around for a few weeks (doesn't it sound like fun?) NOT! Oh, and I lost my voice to boot, nothing but a whisper for about a week and now I sound like Janis Joplin (too bad I can't sing) :-)
Well, I'm feeing better now so I will do my best to blog more often. Take some time to enjoy the flowers, I am!

Baseball, birds, and golf.
What a busy weekend! I played in the Early Bird golf tournament at Fillmore Saturday and Sunday and traveled to Rochester Saturday evening for the Redwings double header vs. Ottawa. We had box seats to celebrate the Crawford's 30th Wedding Anniversary! Needless to say, we had all of the ingredients for a great time (hot dogs, popcorn, beer, good friends).
If you follow my blog at all, you know on ocassion I have mentioned the Rochester Falcons. Well, I HAD NO IDEA that the Redwings field is next door to the Kodak building where Mariah and Kaver's nest is! Much to my surprise, as the sun went down, and the lights came on, I looked up and saw this beautiful building and I asked "What is that?" The response "Well, that is the Kodak building!" totally shocked me. Why didn't I have my binoculars with me? I just didn't have any idea that the nest was that close. To top it off, the first baby hatched this morning, woohoo!
BTW, you might have noticed I didn't talk about the golf tournament results... I'm not going to now either.

April 2007 Noreaster
As you can see, the noreaster made its way to Freeville overnight. I let Kobe out at 2am and there was just a dusting but the snow WAS falling heavily. I took these photos at 6:30am, only 4 hours later! It's still snowing and all the local schools are closed, except Cornell, of course. Happy Monday... NOT!

Spring Cleaning - even though it doesn't feel like Spring!
Today I set out to do my usual Sunday chores (laundry, vacuuming, etc) but I suddenly felt compelled to start my Spring cleaning. I started in my office and spare bedroom. I decided to make my office purely an office and put both of my spare beds (1 twin, 1 3/4) into the spare bedroom... Well, four hours later, the hardwood floors were mopped, the furniture was all moved and things look pretty good (at least I think so). Now I need to buy matching bed spreads! The office looks great and roomier even though I moved in the desk from my bedroom. Oh yes, I had to clean my bedroom too because moving the desk created quite a stir by the dust bunnies (they must have snuck in for Easter)!
Here are pictures, I hope you can tell the office from the bedroom!
Weather Update: 3:30pm - Sunday - It hasn't been doing much all day but it just started to rain/sleet. I'll post more again later as this ugly storm arrives.
8:00pm - Intermittent rain/sleet, no accumulation here (yet)!

April Fool's Day Logic
Here is some April Fool's Day Logic I came up with this morning:
April 1 = April Fool's Day
April 1 = Sandy's Birth Day
therefore:
Aprils Fool's Day = Sandy's Birth Day
divide both sides by "Day"
and you get:
April Fool's = Sandy's
divide both sides by "'s"
and you get:
April Fool = Sandy
therefore:
Sandy is a true April Fool!
Isn't that great? Not all of us can say this with certainty!
Happy Birthday Sandy!
(p.s. Sorry, I was a math major!)
