Daffodils

It's daffodil season. The American Cancer Society always sells bunches to raise money for their great cause. I was away (on vacation) when they were selling them so I missed out on having a bouquet in my office. Tonight I decided to find a picture to satisfy my daffodil needs. It will be my desktop background until Easter. Enjoy!

Critters

If you don't have any critters of your own you probably won't appreciate this post. I want to let you all know how much I appreciate my dog and my cat. I can't imagine my life without either of them at this time. I give thanks every day for their existence. Even on their worst days they are the best companions any one could ever ask for. Oh, and the answer is NO, they are not up for adoption. :-)

Riding season is just around the corner!

The forecast is looking better, we're supposed to have days in the high 50s later this week. Now we just need one really good rain storm to wash all of the crap off the roads and I'll be on two wheels again until Fall. Spring is definitely my favorite season!

Slam Dunk!

If you love women's college basketball then you had to love what happened this past weekend. Yes, a girl DUNKED during a women's game, not just once, but twice! Way cool! There are critics who believe dunks are going to ruin the women's game. I don't think so. The women's game will always be more about the game than the bright lights and individual accomplishments. Girls playing above the rim will add a level of excitement and should draw some of the skeptics (mostly men) to watch the games, which are usually great at reminding us what the fundamentals of basketball are: dribbling, passing, shooting (making free throws), and playing defense!

Who needs an alarm clock?

The few weeks before we turn the clocks ahead are brutal on me. You see, my cat is awake at daybreak. This time of year in upstate NY daylight is soon after 5am! The routine is this, the cat wakes up first, he then picks on the dog until he wakes up, and then they both decide its time to wake me up. I try to ignore them but it only works for about 5 minutes. By 8pm each night I am ready for bed. Only another 10 days until we change the clocks ahead one hour and I'll be able to sleep later and once again I'll be able to stay awake for my 9pm TV shows.

The Inbox is full...

I've been away for a couple of weeks, it's time to go back to work and attempt to flush out my inbox.

Roses are red.
Daffodils will soon be in blossom.
First day of Spring!
Yes, my vacation was awesome.

Home again, home again, jiggedy jig...

Arrived home safe and sound yesterday and woke up this morning to a beautiful blanket of snow. How quickly the 82 degree days became a faint memory! I'll spend today relaxing, its back to the grind of the working world tomorrow.

On the road again...

We left Ocala yesterday morning. It was a nice day for traveling, sunny skies and light traffic most of the way. We stopped in Roanoke Rapids, NC, ate at the Cracker Barrell and slept at the Sleep Inn (free internet, woohoo). We should be on the road by 8am and back in NYS by 6pm tonight!

Anna Maria Island Sunset!

I thought I would share one of my pics from tonight's sunset here on the Island!

Where am I and what day is it?

Hi all,
I left Weston yesterday morning and headed to Anna Maria Island. I traveled up Route 27 and headed west on 70, total trip was 210 miles, it took me about 4 hours. It was a very nice, pleasant day to ride. I stopped 4 times to apply sun screen. Here is a picture of John and I just before I left:

Yssterday afternoon I went out to the pier for a beer with Chas and Erma. A dolphin decided to stop by to say hi, my camera doesn't do it justice, but here is the snapshot:

Tomorrow, I'll head back to my parent's place in Ocala and prepare for the journey to New York. The weather is still perfect here, making it very hard to think about the north country.

Farewell to Daytona!

I left Daytona this morning, what a great time I had. Kathy and Roy were great hosts, the weather was perfect, and I have to say I still love biking!!!! I traveled 300 miles down to Ft Lauderdale today, spending time with John and his brother and family. I'll try to post more pictures tomorrow.
Here's a picture of my last night saluting a successfull Daytona:

Bike Week 2006 - Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday

All is well in Daytona! I rode over from Ocala on Wednesday and the weather has been absolutely perfect. I'm staying with friends in Port Orange and having a great time! Here is a picture I took looking down Beach Street on Thursday:

Yesterday we visited Destination Harley (wow, what a place!) and stopped at the Iron Horse on the way home. There was a nice crowd there, see for yourself:

Now, this is a picture of my buddy Roy. Can you tell which one he is?

I'll post more again soon. We're headed to the Rats Hole bike show downtown today!

Tidy Tuesday

Its easy to be lazy here but everyone seemed to find a spurt of energy today. I spent the day stripping, cleaning, and polishing the motorcycle. Dad washed his bicycle and trailer. Mom cleaned her bathroom. Joanne cleaned her bathroom and ran the vacuum. The weather was great, 72 degrees and sunny. There was a cool breeze but nothing to complain about. We went to Steak and Shake for supper, just another delightful (and tidy) day in the sunny south!

Busy Monday

I'm easing into the life style here in the south (not really hard to do, life here is pretty easy to take). Today was pretty hectic (hee hee). Let's see, I painted my toe nails (like it better when someone else paints them!), helped Dad fix the satellite dish (a couple twists of a wrench), went to lunch (yummy pizza buffet), sat in the sun (with my sun screen applied, of course), read my book (Dean Kootz's "Dragon Tears"), showed off my motorcycle (if I must), and ate dinner (always good when someone else fixes the food (thanks MOM!)). I am sitting in the Florida room checking email and trying to figure out what to do tomorrow. I really should spend some quality time cleaning my bike, but I would much rather ride, so maybe I'll do that instead. Oh, the tough choices, what will I do?

Sunny Sunday

In my mind, today was officially my first day of vacation. I haven't been at work for 3 days but today was the first day that I didn't have to do anything. My hardest task today was to reposition my chair so it stayed in the sun all day. Indeed, it was truly a very sunny Sunday, and a day of rest and relaxation. We ventured into town this evening for a nice dinner and on the way home the sun was setting over the top of all of the horse farms along the way. Here's a view from the road taken at 45mph.

The sun really does shine!

Living through a central New York winter often makes me wonder where the sun hides for 5 months. I found it today, it's in Florida! How cool is that? I left NY on Thursday morning during a mini-blizzard and drove for 4 hours through snow, rain, sleet, and fog, and then finally, just past Carlisle, PA, the roads were dry and the sun was peeking through the clouds. Phew, what a drive! I stopped in Winchester, VA for the night and had dinner at my favorite Texas Steak house. 9 hours on the road on Friday landed me at Vickie's house in Summerville, SC (it's always great to see her!). On the way, I passed the Hatfields, they were heading north, definitely going in the wrong direction :-). 6 more hours today and I arrived at my parent's in Ocala. Dad and I unloaded the bike and I took her for a quick spin around the block, boy did that feel good! Let my vacation begin...

Almost ready...

I've been slacking lately, no posts, sorry. Things are always crazy before vacation! Yes, that's right, I'm going on vacation tomorrow. Stay tuned, I'll be blogging my trip. Destinations include Summerville (SC), Ocala, Daytona, Anna Maria Island, and more. Resa's Rambles will no doubt turn into Resa's Rumbles...
